windows 10 On mobile

Although Microsoft seems to be busy working on Android apps these days, rather than doing seemingly more relevant things, such as hyping up Windows 10 Mobile, this doesn't change the fact that a successor to Windows Phone is in the making, and the concept of Windows living on phones is not dead yet. Although Microsoft isn't keen on announcing a timeframe of availability, the company was adamant that all Lumia devices running Windows Phone 8 will eventually get upgraded to Windows 10. But, following this announcement, Microsoft published a list of to-be-upgraded Windows smartphones that was limited to devices running the Lumia Denim software, which coincides with the Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 release. But the laconically worded statement didn't make it very clear whether Windows 10 will be exclusive to these devices, or whether they will simply be the first to be updated. Thus, website Neowin reached out to Microsoft in an attempt to clarify the situation. And, wh...

Lolipop 5.0.2 and next version of the 5.1

It's a new month, and you know what that means. The latest distribution numbers for Android's different builds are now in a days. With 15.5% of Android devices running on Android 5.0, and 2.6% equipped with Android 5.1, the Lollipop build of Google's open source OS can be found on 18.1% of Android flavored devices. That is a gain of 5.7 percentage points from last month. The percentage of Android devices powered by Android 4.4 KitKat actually rose by the smallest of margins, .1 percentage point from the last report, to 39.3%. After KitKat, Android 4.1-Android 4.3 Jelly Bean was next with 33.6% of Android devices. With Lollipop 3rd position, Gingerbread was 4th position. Covering Android 2.3.3 to Android 2.3.7, the build is still driving 4.6% of phones and tablets running on the platform. Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0.3-Android 4.0.4, 4.1%  and Froyo Android 2.2, .3% round out the remaining builds. The data comes from visitors to the Google Play Store o...

Samsung Galaxy Note 5

The images were tweeted by Evan Blass of @evleaks fame. This morning, Blass has passed along leaked specs said to belong to the Galaxy Note 5. According to his tweet, the phablet will be equipped with a 5.66-inch screen carrying a 1440 x 2560 QHD resolution. That works out to a pixel density of 515ppi. Powering the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, according to the tweet from Blass, will be the Exynos 7420 chipset which is the same SoC inside the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 edge. The chip will provide the Galaxy Note 5 with 4 cores running at a 2.1GHz clock speed, and 4 cores with a clock speed of 1.5GHz. 4GB of RAM is inside along with 32GB of internal storage. There is no microSD slot on the device, according to the leak. On the back of the Galaxy Note 5 will be a 16MP snapper that will probably be the same one found on the back of Sammy's recent high-end models, including the Samsung Galaxy S6. A 5MP front-facing cemara   handles sel...
