windows 10 On mobile

Although Microsoft seems to be busy working on Android apps these days, rather than doing seemingly more relevant things, such as hyping up Windows 10 Mobile, this doesn't change the fact that a successor to Windows Phone is in the making, and the concept of Windows living on phones is not dead yet. Although Microsoft isn't keen on announcing a timeframe of availability, the company was adamant that all Lumia devices running Windows Phone 8 will eventually get upgraded to Windows 10. But, following this announcement, Microsoft published a list of to-be-upgraded Windows smartphones that was limited to devices running the Lumia Denim software, which coincides with the Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 release. But the laconically worded statement didn't make it very clear whether Windows 10 will be exclusive to these devices, or whether they will simply be the first to be updated. Thus, website Neowin reached out to Microsoft in an attempt to clarify the situation. And, wh...

Lolipop 5.0.2 and next version of the 5.1

It's a new month, and you know what that means. The latest distribution numbers for Android's different builds are now in a days. With 15.5% of Android devices running on Android 5.0, and 2.6% equipped with Android 5.1, the Lollipop build of Google's open source OS can be found on 18.1% of Android flavored devices. That is a gain of 5.7 percentage points from last month. The percentage of Android devices powered by Android 4.4 KitKat actually rose by the smallest of margins, .1 percentage point from the last report, to 39.3%. After KitKat, Android 4.1-Android 4.3 Jelly Bean was next with 33.6% of Android devices. With Lollipop 3rd position, Gingerbread was 4th position. Covering Android 2.3.3 to Android 2.3.7, the build is still driving 4.6% of phones and tablets running on the platform. Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0.3-Android 4.0.4, 4.1%  and Froyo Android 2.2, .3% round out the remaining builds. The data comes from visitors to the Google Play Store o...

Samsung Galaxy Note 5

The images were tweeted by Evan Blass of @evleaks fame. This morning, Blass has passed along leaked specs said to belong to the Galaxy Note 5. According to his tweet, the phablet will be equipped with a 5.66-inch screen carrying a 1440 x 2560 QHD resolution. That works out to a pixel density of 515ppi. Powering the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, according to the tweet from Blass, will be the Exynos 7420 chipset which is the same SoC inside the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 edge. The chip will provide the Galaxy Note 5 with 4 cores running at a 2.1GHz clock speed, and 4 cores with a clock speed of 1.5GHz. 4GB of RAM is inside along with 32GB of internal storage. There is no microSD slot on the device, according to the leak. On the back of the Galaxy Note 5 will be a 16MP snapper that will probably be the same one found on the back of Sammy's recent high-end models, including the Samsung Galaxy S6. A 5MP front-facing cemara   handles sel...

Microsoft Lumia 950

Microsoft unveiled a new version of its operating system last year breaking the mould and skipping ahead right to the number 10. Windows 10's main aim was to connect its ecosystem of devices using the same apps across desktop, tablet, smartphones and even its own Xbox One. All Microsoft devices from now on are likely to run with a certain version of Windows Phone 10 installed, even the mega exciting Microsoft HoloLens reportedly runs in conjunction with the OS. Windows 10 was made available at a press event before allowing our friends over atTechRadar Pro to have a go on it, but that was mostly with the desktop version of the system. This is primarily for the mobile version, yet there is a little crossover as both platforms are so closely interconnected. Microsoft shared some more details of the platform at MWC 2015 by revealing any device currently running Windows Phone 8.1 will be upgradeable to Windows Phone 10 by the end of the year. We man...

OnePlus 2

The OnePlus One came out of nowhere as the first product of a new company, but it didn't disappoint, thanks to high end specs and a surprisingly low price tag. One of the biggest complaints we could level at it was how hard it was to get hold of at launch and when that's the biggest problem a phone is facing you know you've got a winner on your hands. But while there were no expectations for the OnePlus One hopes are sky high for the OnePlus 2, so it's got a lot to live up to. News and rumors We don't know a huge amount about the OnePlus Two yet, but it's supposedly set to land during the third quarter of 2015. There are rumblings that it could have a premium metal build, while specs are rumored to include a 5.5-inch QHD screen, a Snapdragon 810 processor, 4GB of RAM, a 3300 mAh battery and older reports point to a 16MP main camera and a 5MP front-facing snapper. While we know it will land with OxygenOS almost certain...

Linux Creator Thinks “Future Robots Controlling Humans” Is Stupid

Well, things have certainly become interesting now. On one side, we have the genius professor Stephen Hawking , CEO of SpaceX and Tesla Motors  Elon Musk , Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak with many other theorists backing the inevitable, and then there is LINUX creator Linus Torvalds. Torvalds, in a recent Q&A session with Slashdot users, has tipped the scales to balance in this ever debatable theory “Will the Machines Rise?”. The Linux creator does not think that Artificial Intelligence will ever reach the hypothesized ‘Skynet’ type situation to threaten human race. Although the internet was filled with the reports of a  robot crushing a human to death   in Germany last weekend, it still does not mean that the uprising has started. While in a recent statement at a Freescale technology forum in Austin, Wozniak has pegged the robots to make humans their pets. In other news, Elon Musk feels the technology sophistication is humans biggest existential threat and...

Human Robots

Everyone would agree at this point of time that Artificial Intelligence is the future. Machines have replaced humans most of the aspects of life. News like Hadrian-The Robot that   builds a home in 2 days is already a hit . The reason is pretty simple: Robots are precise, efficient and make no excuses. Panasonic has offered a way to enhance human skill in the factories by providing exoskeletons rather than replacing the workers with robots. Build by ActiveLink, a subsidiary of Panasonic, this exoskeleton aims to provide super strength to human workers in the factory. The Powerloader Panasonic Exoskeleton is powerful enough to allow its wearer carry a load up to 33 pounds whereas it itself weighs just 13 pounds. One thing that separates Panasonic Exoskeleton machines with humans is the factor of awareness and judgement. But, with the advancing technology this thin line between robots and humans will also be erased as seen in the recent experiment where bots  solved Wi...
